Google announced a new service - Google Trends - today. It allows to see the trends of world's interest in particular topics and to compare interest in several topics side by side, and per region. The main page - http://google.com/trends - suggests a few inane searches, but try some a little more controversial, e.g.

http://google.com/trends?q=abortion%2Ccontraception
http://google.com/trends?q=corruption%2Cintegrity
http://google.com/trends?q=death%2Cbirth
http://google.com/trends?q=religion
http://google.com/trends?q=christianity%2Cislam
http://google.com/trends?q=god%2Cdevil

Look at the cities AND the regions. Prepare to be surprised.

One of sports training teachers back in my school in Moscow used to say that there're two official lies in our lives - weather forecast and statistics... I tend to agree with him completely.

The links you e.gave I followed. Mildly surprised I was. Astonishment caused it not...

Oh, it went public! Cool. We played with it last week.

Try to compare Google, Yahoo and Microsoft.

Check out Venus.
