JK Rowling does not understand physics

"Despite the cloudless sky, the old trees ahead cast deep, dark, cool shadows..."
Not "despite", but "just because"! I wonder if she would write "Despite the wind, the trees were swaying". That's what the Pope should be complaining about: that the children are taught an unscientific world view.
